Amritsar, December 13th

A large LED screen installed on Heritage Street leading to the Golden Temple repeatedly plays government-sponsored advertisements, irritating Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal, who was on his way to the shrine.

Sukhbir, along with SAD leaders, was stationed in Amritsar to commemorate the party’s 103rd founding day at the Golden Temple complex. Sukhbir claimed that the purpose of installing these screens was to broadcast Gurbani live. “What shall we say about Gurbani? It pains me to see these being misused to run government advertisements round the clock, which was also misleading,” he said. Ta.

Nevertheless, the SGPC has recently installed a ‘parallel’ LED screen in the same location opposite, broadcasting Gurbani Kirtan and Gurmat programs from the Golden Temple.

“I request Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to order restoration of Gurbani broadcasting on these LEDs, at least without using Golden Temple Road,” he said.
