Iranian delegation pays homage at Golden Temple and meets Akal Takht Jathedar

A delegation from Iran paid homage at the Golden Temple on Tuesday night. The delegation also met with Akal Takht Sahib chief granthi and jathedar Gianni Ragbir Singh and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chairman Harjinder Singh Dhami.

The delegation comprised Dr. Ali Abbasi, Vice Chancellor of Al Mustafa International University, Dr. Raza Shekri, Dr. Murtaza Shani, Dr. Athar Jafri and Ali Akbar Shah from the University of Delhi.

During the meeting with Sikh leaders, the delegation invited them to come to Iran and visit the Sikh religious shrines there. The delegation members were honored at the Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat.

Dhami said the delegation from Iran is made up of educators and university teachers. He said he had consulted with delegation members to collaborate in various areas. Dr. Ali Abbasi said Iranians have interrelationships with Sikhism and other religions in India. He said work could be done in many areas, including religious history, development and dissemination of the Persian language, education, and culture. He said the delegation held discussions with Sikh leaders in a comfortable environment.
