Hare Krishna Golden Temple celebrates Gaura Purnima with grandeur

Hyderabad: The Gaura Purnima festival, marking the transcendental emergence of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, was celebrated with great pomp at the Hare Krishna Golden Temple on Monday.

The altar was decorated with a special Alankara of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, after which darshan was given to all visitors. As part of the festivities, devotees offered 56 kinds of delicious food to the Lord as “Chappan Bhog”, including sweets, challahs, fried foods, fruit juices and other foods. Later in the evening, a grand Palaki Utsavam of Gaura Nitai was celebrated, followed by Nitai Gauranga Ashthottarasata Kalasha Maha Abhishekam, offering various fruit juices, flowers, Panchamritam, Panchagavyam and Sugandha Dravya amidst chanting of Vedic hymns and mantras, followed by an enlightening special Pravachanam.

Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, president of the Hare Krishna Movement, said that according to Vedic revelation, Lord Krishna appeared in Bengal during this period in the divine form of Gauranga or Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and inaugurated the Yuga-Dharma of communal chanting of His holy name. By seeking refuge in Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, anyone can practice chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra daily (at least 108 times) and attain relief from worldly suffering and ultimately loving devotion to Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality. This is the perfection of life and the ultimate goal of all.
