We have called on residents of 13,000 villages in Punjab to take gherao and question any BJP candidate if he comes to campaign. Our allies will launch an anti-BJP campaign across the country. Sarwan Singh Pandher, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee

Members of several farmer unions launched an anti-BJP campaign from Chava village in Amritsar.

Earlier, posters were put up by farmers in several villages in Sangrur and Bathinda districts barring the entry of BJP leaders.

KMSC’s Sarwan Singh Pandhar, Gurbachan Singh Chaba and Gullar Singh Mann said they will not allow BJP candidates to enter villages across the country, not just in Punjab.

Farmers’ unions have acquired a banner with the photograph of Shubkaran Singh, who lost his life when farmers clashed with Haryana police at the Kanauli border in February. The posters also asked the BJP-led central government, “Sada ki kasoor… Asi ki mangya si, ditta ki? Goliyan…”

Farm leaders said district-level meetings would be held across the country and a campaign would be organized to expose the Modi government.

“We have called on residents of 13,000 villages in Punjab to take part in gheraos and question BJP candidates if they come for election campaigning. Our allies will launch an anti-BJP campaign across the country,” Pandher said.

Border Sangharsh Committee farm leaders Ratan Singh Randhawa and Dr Satnam Singh Ajnala, Jamhoori Kisan Sabha said issues related to farmers in border areas were never taken up at the Center.

“All farmer unions have opposed the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and called for hoisting black flags in villages. The BJP is keen on handing over the entire agriculture sector to corporates. Protesting farmers have been attacked It is a murder of democracy.” Randhawa said.
