Former Punjab CM Charanjit Chani offers prayers at Golden Temple

He visited here to pay homage at the Golden Temple soon after the Congress announced former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi as its candidate for Jalandhar Lok Sabha. He was accompanied by senior Congress leader Palghat Singh and other party leaders from Doaba region.

Speaking to media persons waiting outside the Golden Temple, he said he had come to express his gratitude to Guru Sahib as the Congress party had chosen him to perform ‘sewa’ from the Jalandhar seat. Told. He said he was going to the ‘Malka (Masters)’ in Doaba as a ‘sewak’. ”

Citing the friendship between Sudama and Bhagwan Krishna, he said that he is Sudama and the natives of Doaba will take care of him like Bhagwan Krishna. He declined to comment on the opposition raised by the Chaudhary family to his own candidacy, adding that he was standing at the holiest Sikh shrine.

Replying to another question, he said they are serving the people of the state from various locations. He participated in the Chamkaur Sahib elections from Kharar, where he was elected as an independent.
