12 school vehicles arrested for violating regulations

Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Arshdeep Singh Rubana today said that while inspecting the vehicles along with his team, 12 penalties were imposed on school vehicles found to be in violation of the guidelines of the Safe Schools Vahan Policy. issued a challan.

Officials from the RTA, district child protection department and traffic police have been checking school vehicles carrying private school students since last week following the accident in Mahendragarh that claimed the lives of seven children.

Arshdeep Singh said the district would ensure compliance with the Safe School Vahan policy. In order to protect the lives of schoolchildren, any negligence cannot be tolerated. He said principals should give personal attention to school vehicles. He added that they will be held responsible if any accidents occur due to policy violations.

“Regarding the Safe School Bahan Policy, SDM level meetings were held with principals of various schools and educational institutions during which they were briefed on the safety procedures to be followed and ensuring that school vehicles meet the prescribed standards. “I received it,” he said.

“School vans and buses should be equipped with surveillance cameras, iron bars on windows, first aid kits and female chaperones for girls. Drivers should have a heavy vehicle driving license. All vehicles should have It must be equipped with a speed governor. The color of the training vehicle should be yellow,” he added.

He said most of the violations found during inspections of school vehicles include undocumented drivers, speeding, unbarred windows and inadequate first aid kits. It also said children should only be picked up and dropped off when school vehicles are stopped.
