Lawyer defrauded of 1 million rupees blames police inaction

A lawyer was duped out of more than Rs 1 million by a fraudster on the pretext of doubling his money by investing in a real estate business. Following the intervention of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, police have registered a case but are yet to arrest the accused.

He said the defendants lured him by claiming to be American nationals and have established real estate businesses in Germany, Dubai and Australia. He said Raj lured him into doubling his money by investing in foreign real estate ventures.

About 10 days ago, Kotwali police registered a case against fraudster Raj Sharma alias Neeraj.

The victim, Sudhir Sharma, called on Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, DGP Gaurav Yadav and Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Brar to deliver justice.

Giving details, Sudhir Sharma, a resident of Khandwara area of ​​Chekharta, said that he met Raj Sharma at the court premises a few years ago. He said the defendant lured him by claiming to be a US citizen and to have an established real estate business in Germany, Dubai and Australia.

He said Raj defrauded him of Rs 1 million by instigating him to double his money by investing in a foreign real estate business. The defendant claimed that he demanded money but did not give it back and threatened to kill him.

The victims alleged that police officials were delaying and influencing the investigation. He said a case would have to be filed in the High Court to get an FIR registered against the scammers. He said that as per the High Court order, officials at the rank of Commissioner of Police conducted an investigation and recommended registration of an FIR in the case.

He called on the police authorities to deliver justice by arresting the suspects and taking further necessary steps.
