Woman murdered in Govind Nagar

Late last night, an unmarried woman was found brutally murdered in Govind Nagar area on Sultanwind Road here. She was alone in her house.

The deceased has been identified as Harpreet Kaur alias Roji (42). Police said he had what appeared to be a sharp knife wound on the back of his neck. Police took the body into custody and sent for an autopsy. Police do not yet know anything about the culprit, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area were being scanned for clues in the case.

Dilbagh Singh, the victim’s cousin, told police that his paternal uncle Sukhbir Singh and aunt Sudarshan Kaur passed away around 12 years ago and that he had been living alone in the house since then. Ta. She was adopted by his uncle and aunt as a child. She had refused to marry her.

He said that after the couple’s death, she had been living alone and was receiving a pension from Sukhbir Singh, who retired from the post office. She not only gave sweets to the children in her neighborhood, but also donated a lot to the poor.

He said the child went to her house last night to get chocolates and found her lying in a pool of blood. She issued an alert for the area. Neighbors immediately called the police. Police began an investigation after arriving at the scene.

She had a sharp knife wound on the back of her neck, and a knife was also found near the scene. Today, police used sniffer dogs and a forensics team inspected the scene, informed Division B Police Station Officer Sukhbir Singh. He said the culprits would be arrested soon.
