A year after Sukhwinder Singh, a local farmer from Chak Kamal Khan here was found murdered on a roadside in the village, Amritsar district police have investigated the case and arrested three people in this connection. .

It turned out to be a contract killing fueled by a land dispute. The arrested persons were identified as Arjan Singh and Jagbir Singh of Bindi Aurak Khurd village and Balwinder Singh (alias Bindi) of Chak Kamal Khan village.

Amritsar (rural) SSP Satinder Singh said after a year of technical investigation and collection of human information, the police had finally cracked the case.

Giving details, the SSP said that Balwinder Singh and deceased Sukhwinder Singh shared the boundaries of agricultural land. He said Balwinder sold some of his land to someone for Rs 1 million about seven years ago. He wanted his land back but his owner had sold the same land to Sukhwinder Singh. This enraged Balwinder, who continued to hold a grudge against the deceased.

He hired Arjan and Jagbir Singh and gave them 100,000 rupees for the murder of Sukhwinder. The incident occurred on May 10 last year, during an evening walk.

Lovepreet Singh told police that his father owned a flour mill in the village and that he and his wife, Sarabjit Kaur, used to go for an evening walk every day. At around 8:30 p.m. on May 10, 2023, he went for a walk alone. Half an hour later, village resident Amritpal Singh told his family that Sukhwinder Singh was lying on the roadside with injury marks on the ribs on the right side of his body. He was rushed to a private hospital in Amritsar where doctors declared him brought dead.
