All-out campaign by party candidates, election campaign in final stage

As the candidate filing process begins and election campaigns enter their final stages, candidates from various political parties are reaching out to voters and sharing their vision.

Addressing a public meeting at Ran Bari Chowk on Batala Road, Congress candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla said he would work towards reviving traditional industries in the city which have provided employment to many people. . He said the city used to have many industrial parks, but they have since disappeared.

Aujla said the industry moved to other states due to poor state government policies and tax incentives given to such sectors in other states. He said it was time to revive such units in the city. He claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party was going downhill across the country and people would soon see a new progressive, democratic and liberal government.

BJP candidate Taranjit Singh Sandhu also promised to resolve the problems faced by transporters at Attari general inspection station. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of truck unions, Mr. Sandhu said international trade is very important for the country’s development and transporters play a vital role in importing and exporting goods by road.

Mr Sandhu said he was aware of the problems faced by transporters and would consult with the relevant authorities to resolve them. He said his vision is to put the Holy City on the world map and pave the way for advancement in business and trade.
