Addressing a gathering at a local art gallery, Jaishankar, who was accompanying Sandhu to file his nomination papers, said, “Congress has created a blacklist of Sikhs. To counter this injustice, (Narendra ) Prime Minister Modi has removed many names from this list. The credit for this goes to Sandhu.”

Jaishankar was referring to the Union government’s decision in 2019 that the blacklist of Sikh foreigners banned from traveling to India for decades was reduced from 314 to just two. According to the HT report, 312 people were removed from the blacklist, officially known as the ‘blacklist’. People on the central delinquent list are now “eligible to obtain Indian visas and Overseas Indian Cards”.

Jaishankar also said that India remains committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens in war-torn countries such as Ukraine and Israel.

Earlier, Mr. Sandhu, accompanied by Mr. Jaishankar, conducted a roadshow in Amritsar from Novelty Chowk to District Court.

“We are fully confident that the people of Amritsar will elect him (Sandhu) and send him to Delhi. He will be a very good member of parliament. He is one of the most popular members of India’s Mr. Jaishankar said that if the interests of the Punjab side and Amritsar have to be brought to the fore, there is no better person to choose than Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and he urged the party to come here and talk to Sandhu. Sandhu told reporters that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the development of Amritsar and promote industry and commerce. “We are going to get approval for a special package for Amritsar from the Modi government. The city will be cleaned on the pattern of Indore and the infrastructure will be strengthened,” he said.

Meanwhile, SAD’s Amritsar candidate Anil Joshi has also submitted documents, while Amritpal Singh, an extremist Sikh preacher who is imprisoned in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail and is contesting the election as an independent candidate in Khadoor Sahib constituency, has also submitted documents. submitted. His paper was submitted by his uncle Sukhchain Singh. Manjit Singh Manna Mianwind, a BJP candidate from Khadoor Sahib, has also filed his nomination papers. In Gurdaspur, Congress candidate and former deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa filed his nomination papers.
