In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) said that the officials/employees of various departments who were appointed as PRO/APRO/Polling Officers to complete the election duties but did not report for duty. We told them that they could take advantage of this opportunity.

In the meeting, Additional Election Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jyoti Bhalla informed the reinstatement assistant commissioners about the notification issued by the District Election Commissioner’s office stating that employees can explain their absence from duty.

She said, “Despite multiple reminders, many officials and employees did not turn up in response to the notice. Therefore, from 9 am to 5 pm on May 13, a police station near Amritsar bus stand A last chance was given to these officials/employees to explain their absence from polling duty at Guru Nanak Dev Auditorium.”

She further stated that “if an official or employee does not provide an explanation for his/her absence on the specified date and time, it will be understood that he/she does not wish to answer in this regard.” Based on this, further departmental and legal action will be initiated by the District Election Officer, Amritsar against the concerned officials/employees as per law. A committee has been set up to listen to explanations from officials and employees. ”
