Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Total 598 candidates filed in Punjab: Shibin C


– Candidates can withdraw their nomination documents until May 17th
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Shibin C said on Tuesday that on the last day of filing of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 226 candidates have applied for 13 seats in Lok Sabha and May 7. The total number of candidates in the state now stands at 598. Until May 14th.

Fifteen candidates have been submitted from Gurdaspur, most of whom are independents.

Similarly, 18 candidates have been submitted from Amritsar, including Emaan Singh Mann of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

As many as 15 candidates have been submitted by Khadoor Sahib, including Harpal Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

Eighteen candidates have applied from Jalandhar, including Sarabjit Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

Ten nominations were submitted from Hoshiarpur. Among them is Jaswant Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

Anandpur Sahib has submitted 23 candidates and Ludhiana has submitted 31 candidates, most of whom are independent candidates.

Seventeen candidates submitted their nomination papers from Fatehgarh Sahib. These include Amar Singh of the Congress and Geja Ram of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Sixteen nominations were submitted from Faridkot. These include Karamjit Singh Anmol of the Aam Aadmi Party.

19 nominations were submitted from Ferozepur. Seventeen candidates have been filed in Bathinda, 15 in Sangrur and 12 in Patiala, most of whom are independents.

Shibin C said nomination papers will be scrutinized on May 15 and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till May 17.
