Three arrested at gunpoint for robbing jewelry store

Two unidentified robbers looted a jewelery store at gunpoint in Nalingar area under Chekharta police station here on Tuesday evening. The suspects fled the scene brandishing weapons.

Police arrested three people within 24 hours of the incident. Superintendent of Police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the arrested include Dhruv and Gagan of Riasat Road and Sahiljit of Mahal village.

Mr. Sahiljit had been doing recce before the incident. Police recovered 15 gold chains and seven rings, along with two toy pistols from them. Police also seized the scooter with fake license plate used in the crime.

The owner, Sahibijit Singh, told police that two people on a scooter entered the shop in Nalingar area and asked to see the jewellery. After several minutes, the two men pulled out guns, dragged the man into a corner and tied him up, he said. He reportedly put the jewelry in a bag and fled on a scooter.

Police arrived at the scene and analyzed footage from surveillance cameras installed in the area to find clues regarding the robbery. A case was registered against the accused under Section 379-B of IPC and Arms Act.
