GNDU improves H-Index

Amritsar: According to the 2024 edition of the outcomes-based Global 2000 list published by the Centre for World University Rankings, Guru Nanak Dev University is ranked in the top 9.3 percent (out of 20,966 universities in 1975) in the world. The independent ranking is based on four objective indicators – teaching, employability, faculty and research. The ranking is further informed by 62 million outcomes-based data points. GNDU is the only multi-specialty state university in the North (Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh) to achieve this ranking. Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu congratulated the faculty, researchers and students for this achievement. Raising the H-index of the top 10 percent most highly cited papers in Scopus from 64 to 145 is a remarkable achievement for the university, he added.

SOF Zone Best Teacher Award

Two teachers from Springdale High School, Amritsar, have been awarded the prestigious ‘SOF Regional Best Teacher Award’ for Punjab and Chandigarh region by Science Olympiad Foundation for the session 2023-24. Springdale Education Association President Sahirjit Singh Sandhu recognized Vandana Mehra and Garveen Kohli as the best teachers for teaching students at the 2023-24 SOF International Mathematics Olympiad and SOF International English Olympiad, respectively. He said he was selected. The teachers were honored for their contribution to motivating students to excel at the International Olympics, which will be held in her 79,400 schools across 70 countries. The award includes a trophy, a certificate and a check of Rs 5,000.

Voter awareness march

To urge voters to exercise their right to vote, NCC students of DAV Higher Secondary School, Hatigate, conducted a voter awareness march from Hall Gate to Division Museum. During the march, the students informed shopkeepers and residents about their voting rights. Speaking on the occasion, DAV Vikas Parashar, head of NCC at the school, said that the NCC department at the school is continuously making efforts for voter awareness. He said that the Election Commission of India has prepared many facilities this time to help senior citizens and physically challenged voters and physically challenged voters should take the initiative by registering for the Saksham app. He said the district administration has ensured ramp facilities at all polling stations in the district.

Webinar on financial planning
