As the election campaign heats up, Indian National Congress candidate Gurjit Singh Aujla appears to have garnered support from an unexpected quarter after he shared a video in which SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann praised him for the bravery he showed during the security breach on the Parliament grounds in December last year.

Notably, on December 13 last year, Aujla showed incredible bravery when two intruders threw a smoke bomb inside the Lok Sabha chamber by subduing one of the intruders and snatching the smoke bomb away from him.

Aujla shared a clip of an interview given to a freelance journalist, Simranjit Singh Mann, in which the freelance journalist is heard saying that he has written a letter to the Louder’s Town chairman seeking a bravery award for Aujla.

The video, captioned “Dhanwad Mann Saab (Thank You Lord),” was uploaded on the social media platform two days ago.

Interestingly, SAD (Amritsar) president’s son Iman Singh Mann is also contesting from the same constituency against Aujla.

Though Iman Singh Mann is not considered a strong candidate, the party’s support base in the state has been growing steadily, especially since he won from Sangrur in the last LS elections. The pan-national vote base has become disillusioned with Sukhbir Singh Badal’s SAD and votes seem to be leaning towards Mann.

Though the two men belong to opposite political parties, Awjila’s efforts to acknowledge Mann’s recognition appear to be an attempt to appease Mann’s supporters and garner a few more votes.

Request Bravery Award

Aujla shared a video of an interview with Simranjit Singh Mann, in which the freelance journalist said he had written a letter to Loudar Narthy seeking the bravery award for Aujla. The video, captioned “Dhanwad Mann Saab (Thank You God),” was uploaded on the social media platform two days ago.
