Punjab Chief Minister asks party leaders in Amritsar and Fatehgarh Sahib to focus on development works

Chandigarh, June 10 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday met party leaders from Amritsar and Fatehgarh Sahib constituencies and asked them to pay special attention to development works.

The meeting was also attended by AAP’s Amritsar candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Fatehgarh Sahib candidate Gurpreet Singh GP, who was defeated in the Lok Sabha elections.

According to a party statement, the Chief Minister appreciated the hard work and dedication of AAP workers during the election period and said they are the pillars of the party.

Mann appealed to party leaders and legislators constituting Amritsar and Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha seats to pay special attention to the development of their areas, resolving people’s problems and the importance of working at the grassroots level.

Mann has been meeting party leaders to hear their views following the AAP’s massive defeat in the recently concluded general elections.

In crucial elections in Punjab state, the BJP won seven of the 13 Lok Sabha seats, dealing a blow to the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP and SAD, but two independent candidates scored surprise victories.

The AAP won three seats – Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib and Sangrur. Sukhbir Singh Badal’s Shiromani Akali Dal managed to win only one seat while the BJP ended up without a seat in the border state. PTI CHS RHL
